Photo: Bill Greenawalt with his wife Peggy. "I have lived in Greenburgh most of my life. I went to Greenburgh schools as did my children. I decided to run for Greenburgh Town Supervisor to bring a healthy spirit and healing to our town, which is torn by division and needs a rebirth. Greenburgh's house is in disarray. Its six villages are weighing secession. Edgemont is considering becoming a village. Real dialogue is badly needed, but cannot exist in the hostile atmosphere created by the current supervisor." - Bill Greenawalt Bill Greenawalt is superbly qualified. And committed to Greenburgh.
Lifelong Greenburgh
resident. Bill Greenawalt has the experience and talent PLUS the civility this town deserves. Why the Democratic Party chose Bill over Paul. Bill has earned the support of the Democratic Party because they know him well. Know that he listens and acts with fairness. Not political pay-offs. They have seen him under pressure. Up close and personal. He respects people. They respect him. A committed, lifelong Greenburgh resident. Bill grew up here. Raised his family here. He loves this town and he wants to make it secure from incompetence. He tells the truth. He will heal the rifts. He will protect the town from the rampantly irresponsible and politically-motivated budget decisions that now plague the town with pay-me-later costs. A tradition of public service. Service to community is a Greenawalt family tradition. With that in mind, Bill majored in Government at Cornell University and went on to Yale Law School, where he was elected an Editor of the Yale Law Journal. He served proudly as a US Naval officer with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Bill served with the Office of Economic Opportunity, creating the impressive network of Legal Services for the Poor programs in New England, New York, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico under President Johnson. Administering annual budgets of $75 million. President Carter appointed Bill to his Task Force on Criminal Justice. Governor Carey appointed Bill to his Task Force on Education. Governor Cuomo chose him to chair the Taconic State Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission County Executive Spano appointed Bill to his Task Force on Land Use and Planning. And he was elected Chair of the County Parks Recreation and Conservation Board. A stellar legal career. Bill also managed to fit in an enviable career as a successful trial lawyer. He was a Senior Partner at Rogers & Wells and a name partner in several independent firms.
